After the first SOHO routers will be there, and ISPs will offer services IPv6 only on bigger areas, DD-WRT and Tomato and OpenWRT and others will keep up also. DD-WRT is a Linux based alternative OpenSource firmware suitable for a great variety of WLAN routers and embedded systems. The main emphasis lies on providing the easiest possible handling while at the same time supporting a great number of functionalities within the framework of the respective hardware platform used. Jul 13, 2009 · The wireless routers that support DD-WRT provide an inexpensive path to IPv6 connectivity for residential users and, fortunately, the process is fairly straightforward. First of all, you’ll need a WAP that is capable of running DD-WRT. iptables -I INPUT 2 -p ipv6 -i vlan1 -j ACCEPT These steps were sufficient to get DD-WRT routing IPv6 to my local net. Machines on the local net now autoconfigure using Stateless Address Autoconfiguration. However, this leaves IPv6 without a firewall, which is critical especially for Windows which listens to MSRPC (port 135) on IPv6.

The detailled configuration steps are targeted toward users with a basic DHCP connection for the WAN part. So, if using PPPoE will require replacing vlan1 with ppp0 in each instance. Oct 16, 2016 · Configuring DD-WRT for 6in4 Tunneling While DD-WRT supports IPv6, the web-based administrative GUI doesn’t have much user friendly support for IPv6 configuration.
